Candy Cane Crush

Just a seasonal quickie today… I was shooting the ad for this new prop pose we released over the weekend at Repose, and I liked how it came out and decided to edit it for blogging. The pose is still 60% off through today, if you want to go snag it! Me and my alt are both wearing a new release from Valentina E. Couture that is just utterly gorgeous. You can find it at The Fantasy Collective’s birthday round!

Candy Cane Crush

On a final note, my alt is wearing Magika’s First Light hair, which is part of the Linden Labs 12 Days Of Savings Marketplace event. So you can grab it here at a discounted price for a limited time!

Opening the house for the season

I’m going away on vacation in RL in just over 6 hours… and I’ve been working on my beach home (in the sky) in SL, so I decided to do a blog post inspired by the merging of RL and SL.

It was a lot of work doing all that cleaning, so I had some friends help out. And maybe I took a break whilst I had them work. I’m just so comfy in my new coldLogic leggings and summery top. Definitely go get your summer fashion fix with coldLogic. The past few releases have been perfect for the arrival of warm weather, beachy days and fun with friends and family! Oh, and these curtains – brand new from LAQ Decor – have so many awesome, seasonal texture options and the anchors seemed perfect for a beach house!

Opening the beach house for the season

Okay, I’ve got to get to sleep, so no rambling today… see ya when we return, sometime after June 4th!

I’m in heaven

Skin Fair 2014 has begun! And anyone who knows me understands that, for me, this is SL heaven. In this post I have two gorgeous skins to show you, and I decided to take advantage of Skin Fair to also show off some lovely Blacklace lingerie!

First up, you may have heard all about SLink’s awesome new mesh head, Visage. There are two versions of Visage available at the moment, and I am showing you Becky. The incredibly awesome thing about this mesh head is that Siddean Munro of SLink has allowed other creators to make appliers for it, just like with her mesh hands and feet. Oh, the other awesome thing is that unlike the mesh heads I’ve tried in the past, you wear your own eyes with this head. Since I am really freakin’ picky about eyes, this was something that simply delighted me.

Glam Affair is among several stores to have released appliers for Visage, and their first release is a version of the brand new Romy skin that is having its debut at Skin Fair! I am wearing the Becky head with the Romy applier in the pictures below.

Daydream Believer

Here’s a closer look! I am using the open mouth facial expression. There are plenty of fun options, and I’ll show you some more in future posts!

Dreamer

Another skin that I fell hard for is the new release from League! Erin is just gorgeous. In fact, I couldn’t decide which makeup I loved most, so I uhm, fatpacked it. I decided to pair Erin with one of Blacklace’s St. Patrick’s Day offerings because it just seemed appropriate.

Irish

And here’s a close up of this gorgeous new face!

I have plenty more to show you from Skin Fair. You’ll find Glam Affair on Sim 1 and League on Sim 2. For more info, including Sim Maps, please visit the Skin Fair 2014 blog!

PS. Skin Fair is using a script counter. Please be sure to remove any unnecessary scripted items before you tp in. This is done to help reduce lag and make the event more easily navigated by all.

My Bungalow: Part 2

If you missed part 1 of this blog post, you can find it here. The Barnesworth Anubis Carraway Bungalow is so gorgeous, and because of how big it is I knew I’d need to break this down into two posts. So, without further ado, here is the final part. As always, please click through to Flickr and hover over the pics to see where each item is from. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

This house has two bathrooms. I left the upstairs bathroom as it is when you buy the house, so you can see what the bathrooms look like if you’d rather not retexture. However, in the downstairs bathroom I did a lot of tinting/retexturing. I call the upstairs bath the “rustic bath” because I decorated it with more old fashioned feeling furnishings, as you can see here.

The Rustic Bathroom

For the downstairs bathroom, I wanted a sense of luxury. So, while it still has a bit of a vintage feel (I tend to like vintage/rustic in home design/decor), it also has lots of lush amenities.

Where Dreams Happen

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home. I don’t know how true that is, but in SL I do love to have one! Here are some pics of the cozy kitchen I put together.

Kitchen Comforts

Bake ALL the things

The Carraway Bungalow has four bedrooms. I only photographed two. One of them was designed as a den, and the other as a guest room. Below is a collage of the den.

The Gathering Place

The guest room wound up being my favorite room in the house, and after that I struggled with what was going to be the master bedroom for weeks. I finally decided to just stop so I could blog everything else and transition to my autumn home. Here are the pics of the guest room.

Guest Room Collage

I had to make sure my KittyCatS made an appearance, so tucked into the nooks and crannies of this adorable cupboard bed from fri.day you will notice Meowzers and tiny Strawberry Milk.

Where cats rule

Finally, this spot was my absolute favorite in the entire house… it’s also a part of what I designed as the guest room, and I will end my blog post with this pic.

Corner For Rainy Days & Dreams

If you’re looking for a versatile home that is suitable for a family, I definitely recommend checking this one out. It’s a winner!

My Bungalow: Part 1

I fell in love with the Barnesworth Anubis Carraway Bungalow that was part of Collabor88 in August. It’s a big house, so it took me a while to decorate it! I have a LOT of pics for this house, so I decided to break it down into two posts.

I modified this house a good bit, in terms of textures. Some of the walls I just tinted, and some I used wallpaper on. Unlike some mesh houses, that was possible with this one. It took some trial and error, but it was a lot of fun to do. I like customizing houses, so that they feel more “me.” I never used to do this, but my BFF Rosa got me hooked, and now I love it.

So, here are the pics… or at least the first batch. I’ll try to keep my comments to a minimum. As always, please click through the pics to see them bigger in Flickr. You’ll also find notes on each pic with where each item is from. If I missed something (I hope not!) or you want more info, feel free to ask in the comments here or on Flickr, or IM me in world.

Autumn Daze

Porch

I have to say this… the Carraway comes with several gorgeous built in cabinets and shelves. The best part? They are all functional, meaning they open!

Mantle

I wanted to particularly point out the adorable Friends artwork seen in this next collage because it is an item from Sway’s for the current round of The Arcade, and you only have a few more days to go try to win it!

It's the little things

Live comfortably

This college shows the dining room built in, which I photographed with some doors open, so you could get a better idea for what I mean about what an awesome detail this is.

And everyone was invited

The second post will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for it!

Dragonfly Cottage

When I saw Eku Zhong of Culprit posting WIP pics of the Dragonfly Cottage, I knew I would need it. You can see her pics here. It’s a perfect summer home. I love the colors, and the gorgeous texture work. Eku also included the texture maps so people can modify to make their own. I’m utterly clueless about these things, but I thought it was a really cool feature for those of you who are able to do this.

This post is going to be pic intensive, so I am not going to talk much. I’ll mostly just share the pics. As always, you can click through to Flickr to see notes on each image for the items featured. If you want to know something specific, please don’t hesitate to comment here or on the Flickr link.

To decorate the living room, I took advantage of the recent fri.day/fri.home 50% off sale. Oh, and I have to point out that lamp. It’s from a brand new store, encore. Isn’t adorable?

Dragonfly Living Room

Dragonfly Fireplace

I love anything tea related… in RL or SL! So I had to have this cabinet from floorplan!

Tea Time

My kitchen features the Salty Dogs & Mermaids kitchen from LISP and the dining set is LAQ Decor. I love the dining set because you get tons of colors, and you can choose from a wide variety of table settings, too.

Dragonfly Kitchen & Dining

The sun porch has such a beautiful tile floor, and the colors are gorgeous with the teal/greens of the walls and outside. The rug is from encore.

Dragonfly Sun Porch

The cottage has a wrap around deck that rocks!

Dragonfly Deck

The large upstairs loft has a balcony. One thing I especially like about this house is that the doors stay open unless you close them. I wish more houses did this, especially ones that are perfect for warmer weather.

Goodnight Moon

This sewing machine from Kuro makes me nostalgic. My mom had an antique sewing machine in RL when I was a little girl. I used to push the pedal (and then get yelled at when I got caught). The rug in this pic is from encore, too. I feel SL has a shortage of good rugs, especially ones you can resize, so the rugs from encore really made me happy!

All Sewn Up

This bed from Cheeky Pea is just adorable. I’m kind of obsessed with beds in SL, and this is one of my favorites ever.

Dragonfly Bedroom

Finally, this gorgeous table is from Senzafine. It’s inspired by Tolkien, and the detail on it is utterly spectacular. My picture frame from What Next has a shot of my youngest SL sister, Isley. The calendar from Cheeky Pea is set to August 31st because that’s Isley’s RL birthday. 🙂

Again, if you have any questions about anything, don’t hesitate to ask, here or on Flickr! I love comments.

Well, I’m off to decorate my next house… stay tuned.

There’s no place like home!

A while ago, I promised to show you more of what has become my favorite ever home in SL. This Lodge from Zacca has such a dreamy quality to it, and yet I can absolutely imagine a home like this existing in the real world. It makes me think of something you’d find in some old little village in the UK. I admit, this house was a challenge for me to decorate. I was fortunate that one of my friends told me about Dysfunctional Dolly Designs, which helped me keep some of the”old world meets new” vibe I wanted. This is the front of the house. My tulips are from Organica and I love how detailed they are.

Zacca Lodge

This next pic features a couple of items from the current round of FaMESHed. The hair from Exile combined with the adorable shoes from LaRoo inspired a look that made me think of Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz. I love heels with socks, and I fell hard for these shoes. I had a really hard time debating a color, but ultimately went with one of the florals because it’s (nearly) summer and I wanted something summery! The odds are very high you’ll see these shoes again in a darker shade come autumn. My skirt is from DCNY and the top is from Coco, which was a “new to me” store. My look isn’t exactly identical to Dorothy’s, but rather just overall inspired by that.

This ain't Kansas...

Here’s a close up collage, of both the LaRoo shoes and the adorable Greymoon bag I’m holding. There are multiple colors and styles, and they are in a gacha, so you’ll have to try your luck to see which one you get! I’m wearing one of the Rares. It features art from Alice In Wonderland. Given all the recent hoopla over copyright and IP infringement, let me say first hand that the designer is a dear friend who researched thoroughly to make sure she was using art that is no longer under copyright. These bags are so cute, and they fit my mood. Maybe it may seem odd to mix Alice In Wonderland with something sort of Oz-ish, but I’ve been watching a lot of Once Upon A Time recently… so it felt perfectly fine to me!

No Place Like Home

Oh, and since my skin is one the new Pink Fuel Harley skins for The Arcade, I had to take a close up shot of it. I still need to go try to win the rare!

Pink Fuel Harley *Arcade*

Now, back to the house… you’ve seen the outside. Let me show you inside. This is what you see when you open the front door… this gorgeous window with the build in daybed (complete with poses) that looks out on the courtyard.

Zacca Window

My living room is decorated primarily with items from LISP. As always, you can click through on any of these pics and hover for notes on where each item comes from. If you want any specifics, just ask me!

Zacca Living Room

This house has two rooms, one of which I made a kitchen. Here are a few pics of that. I have to comment on the dining set because I coveted this set for months… and I finally caved and got it because nothing I had was right for this kitchen (or so I convinced myself). It’s from LAQ Decor and you get a bunch of colors. The table has rezzers and a ton of options for what to have out (if anything). There’s even a funky timer setting called Auto Clear, so you can have it set to de-rezz on its own!

Dining Area

Kitchen 2

Kitchen 1

The other of the two rooms I made into the bedroom, with space for reading and writing because I can’t not have books and pads or typewriters, even in a virtual world!

Bedroom

The typewriter in this collage pic is from Floorplan, and it’s one of the items you can snag at The Arcade. This is the rare floral version.

Bedroom Collage

If you’re looking for an unusual house, this is definitely one worth checking out. I am so in love with it that I’m having a bit of a tough time breaking it all down. I rarely stay attached to houses once I’ve decorated and photographed them, but this one is something pretty darn special.

A little bit of home…

I really enjoy decorating in SL. Maybe it’s because I’ve never really had the patience for it in RL, but whatever the cause, it’s a lot of fun. I wanted to share some of my “homestyle” with you.

This cute little building is the April Shed from L&K Prefabs. The furniture is also from L&K Prefabs, and it is texture change (which I love). Also, see the cute little table? Well, the fold down sides actually work! You can put both of them up or down, or just one as I’ve done for this pic. I loved tables like this in RL when I was a little girl. My great-grandmother had one and I used to call it the “magic table” because you could make it bigger. To me, it was endlessly cool and fascinating. What can I say, I was a strange kid! My top is from Sn@tch, and the adorable polka dot skirt is Sakide. My shoes are from Redgrave and you’ll see more of them in future posts, I’m sure. The hair is Truth.

April Shed

Next, is the inside of the Laurel Cottage from What Next. I’ve blogged some pics of this cottage before, but I wanted to show off the bedroom and the kitchen in particular. I have the What Next Laurel kitchen, which fits exactly perfectly in the Laurel Cottage.

Laurel Cottage Kitchen

This kitchen is also texture change. In fact, the Laurel Cottage has a cute little covered control panel and all of the walls have multiple color options. The house is also mod, so you can always texture it to suit your own needs as well. I retextured the bedroom so it would be purple. I love the French doors to the upstairs deck in the bedroom.

Laurel Cottage Bedroom

Also, the Laurel Cottage has these lovely stained glass windows. You can see them in this shot of the sitting area I set up in the bedroom.

Goodbye to Wynter…

There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort. ~Jane Austen

I love that quote. I’m a homebody. This is true in SL and RL alike. While I love traveling, and a good road trip can make me about the happiest person on earth, at the end I am always happy to come back to my own bed, to the comforts and familiarity of my own home.

In SL, I love changing houses. I love decor. I love the lack of dust and dirt. 😛

In January, I started to use this adorable Wynter Cottage from Funky Junk. It’s the first house I’ve ever had where I retextured the rooms. My BFF Rosa is always retexturing houses, but I’ve always just bought houses I loved the textures in, so I never bothered. I liked this house as it was, but I wanted to get creative and find ways to make it more “me,” so I decided to try it. I honestly expected to fail… but I wound up loving the results, at least I did after hours and hours of internal debate! The textures I used are all from Insight Designs, with the exception of the study, which are from (]LL[) Designs.

Probably not surprisingly, with a name like Wynter, this home has frosted windows, and there’s an option to make it looking like it’s snowing outside, by clicking on the home control system. While we will likely get snow where I live until mid-May (sometimes later), I’m ready for spring! And so, since I know I will want to change houses soon, I decided it was time to snap some pics of this one.

First up is the bathroom. I haven’t had a bathroom in SL in a really long time, and I still don’t have a toilet, since Rosa gave me a cute little outhouse. But I loved the elegance of the Ondine bath set from What Next and wanted to build a bathroom around it. The reclaimed fireplace is also from What Next, but the candles used to light it are from Art Dummy, as is the Silence wall art. You can click through to flickr and hover over this image (or any other in this post) to get details on where each item is from, or you can ask me in comments. Or even IM me in SL. I don’t bite!

Bathroom Collage

The second floor of the Wynter Cottage is a huge attic room, which is a great master bedroom that leaves plenty of room for little nooks. I created a music nook and a comfy little reading nook. I fell head over heels in love with the Chair De Lune moon chair from floorplan. Really, it is called a chair, but it would work as a bed, too. It has sleeping poses and it’s so darn cute. I love anything with moons or stars, so I knew I’d need this one when I saw it. My music nook consists of various What Next pieces.

Attic hang out areas

My bed set is the gorgeous one from LAQ Decor. I’ve used the bed in posts before, and will again… but it’s unlikely it will ever look exactly the same twice. That’s because there are tons of color options. The comforter, top sheet, pillows and even the wood on this bed all have so many color/pattern/wood choices. Then, just to add to it, you can tint all the various parts, which really makes this incredibly versatile. It’s also mesh, and the LI is really low… just 12 for the nightstands (all the stuff you see on them is affixed to them) and the bed! My chair is from Senzafine, and the pile of books are Old Books from Garden Of Dreams.

Bedroom

My living room is nearly entirely What Next. I used the Charlotte set. The cats and the tea and cupcakes are the only items not from What Next in this pic. Well, and obviously the house. It was January, but I wanted splashes of color, and cheer. It’s weird for me, since I’m not really into pink (poor Rosa nearly passed out), but I really wanted to feel like it was almost spring… now, today, it finally is!

Living Room

I turned the screened in porch into my study. Since it was, in fact, still winter I added a cozy woodburning stove from Lisp. I really love how this room came out. My younger sister Ali and Rosa like to tease me about my “clutter” love, but it makes me feel cozy. I’d have even more clutter if I could! My baby sister Isley’s things are in the study, including the What Next chalkboard I always rezz for her so she can study her letters and numbers. 😉

Study

This next picture is from a part of the living room I didn’t photograph, mainly because it involves furniture I’ll soon be using in a new home style blog. But I had to snap a pic of this spool table top from floorplan and the items I rezzed on it. The little box is from Beach Street, and I just adore it. I’ve felt that way about tea my entire life. I don’t know why, but tea has always made me feel comforted and calm, yet sophisticated and worldly… all at the same time. My journal is from What Next, and the teacup lamp is Lisp.

Tea

Finally, the kitchen. Again, it’s been a long time since I had a kitchen in SL. I fell in love with this Lisp kitchen, and I knew I had to have it. My art is from a combo of What Next and Sway’s. My little piggy bank is from Sway’s, too. I love her. She has pretty flowers (not visible here) on her side. She also works, so feel free to come by and pay my piglet (just kidding… you’d get kicked if you’re not on my security, lol). My teacups and spoons chandelier is also from Sway’s. I have a bit of a “thing” for spoons because of something called The Spoon Theory. The Spoon Theory was written by Christine Miserandino, and it was how she explained life with a chronic illness (in her case, lupus) to her “healthy” friend. I’ve used it many times myself, since first reading it, to try to better explain life with fibromyalgia. If you talk to me, you’ll frequently hear me say “I have no spoons” or something akin to that. Well, that’s what it refers to, and so between that and my insane tea obsession, I had to have this lamp!

The dining set from What Next is technically intended to be a garden set, but I had to have it for my little kitchen. I loved the fresh feel of the strawberries, and again, despite my usual aversion to pink, I felt the splash of fresh was very welcome in the long winter months.

Kitchen Collage

And now, with the arrival of Spring, I think it’s time to say goodbye to Wynter… you’ve been a great house, and undoubtedly one I’ll return to next year.

50 Shades Of Sexy: Better Than Chocolate

So, this is the 2nd week of 50 Shades Of Sexy, and yes I am late. I’m catching up, though! I’ll have the 3rd week up later today, and then I’ll be caught up! I’m keeping this one short and, appropriately, sweet. The them was Better Than Chocolate, which makes me think of Sarah McLachlan’s song Ice Cream. I sang that once, at karaoke, for Rad. So it seemed appropriate that a picture of him should be featured in this post! He’s definitely better than chocolate and ice cream and well, basically anything else. The heart platter with yummies is from Rassasy Foods. My picture frame is What Next. The bed – the awesome, amazing bed – is from LAQ Decor. Also, take note of my fabulous feet! These are from the new Gos Boutique line, and I will have more on this unreal series soon, including information about the BEST skin tinting hud in SL.

Better Than Chocolate

This skin is a new release from Cupcakes called Emilia. The Cupcakes sim recently reopened and it looks AMAZING. I really love this skin. It’s very soft and pretty. It also has a lot of add on options, including under eye tattoos. I’m wearing one of those in this pic. I think it adds a unique look to the skin, don’t you?

Look for my take on “Sexual Healing” later today!
