There’s no place like home!

A while ago, I promised to show you more of what has become my favorite ever home in SL. This Lodge from Zacca has such a dreamy quality to it, and yet I can absolutely imagine a home like this existing in the real world. It makes me think of something you’d find in some old little village in the UK. I admit, this house was a challenge for me to decorate. I was fortunate that one of my friends told me about Dysfunctional Dolly Designs, which helped me keep some of the”old world meets new” vibe I wanted. This is the front of the house. My tulips are from Organica and I love how detailed they are.

This next pic features a couple of items from the current round of FaMESHed. The hair from Exile combined with the adorable shoes from LaRoo inspired a look that made me think of Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz. I love heels with socks, and I fell hard for these shoes. I had a really hard time debating a color, but ultimately went with one of the florals because it’s (nearly) summer and I wanted something summery! The odds are very high you’ll see these shoes again in a darker shade come autumn. My skirt is from DCNY and the top is from Coco, which was a “new to me” store. My look isn’t exactly identical to Dorothy’s, but rather just overall inspired by that.

This ain't Kansas...

Here’s a close up collage, of both the LaRoo shoes and the adorable Greymoon bag I’m holding. There are multiple colors and styles, and they are in a gacha, so you’ll have to try your luck to see which one you get! I’m wearing one of the Rares. It features art from Alice In Wonderland. Given all the recent hoopla over copyright and IP infringement, let me say first hand that the designer is a dear friend who researched thoroughly to make sure she was using art that is no longer under copyright. These bags are so cute, and they fit my mood. Maybe it may seem odd to mix Alice In Wonderland with something sort of Oz-ish, but I’ve been watching a lot of Once Upon A Time recently… so it felt perfectly fine to me!

No Place Like Home

Oh, and since my skin is one the new Pink Fuel Harley skins for The Arcade, I had to take a close up shot of it. I still need to go try to win the rare!

Now, back to the house… you’ve seen the outside. Let me show you inside. This is what you see when you open the front door… this gorgeous window with the build in daybed (complete with poses) that looks out on the courtyard.

My living room is decorated primarily with items from LISP. As always, you can click through on any of these pics and hover for notes on where each item comes from. If you want any specifics, just ask me!

Zacca Living Room

This house has two rooms, one of which I made a kitchen. Here are a few pics of that. I have to comment on the dining set because I coveted this set for months… and I finally caved and got it because nothing I had was right for this kitchen (or so I convinced myself). It’s from LAQ Decor and you get a bunch of colors. The table has rezzers and a ton of options for what to have out (if anything). There’s even a funky timer setting called Auto Clear, so you can have it set to de-rezz on its own!

The other of the two rooms I made into the bedroom, with space for reading and writing because I can’t not have books and pads or typewriters, even in a virtual world!

The typewriter in this collage pic is from Floorplan, and it’s one of the items you can snag at The Arcade. This is the rare floral version.

If you’re looking for an unusual house, this is definitely one worth checking out. I am so in love with it that I’m having a bit of a tough time breaking it all down. I rarely stay attached to houses once I’ve decorated and photographed them, but this one is something pretty darn special.

Hair Fair!!!

(I wanted to edit this post because Seraphim did such amazing coverage of this event, and it will help you in your shopping! Check out their post here!)

The Hair Fair opens tomorrow!!! The event runs through July 29th, so you’ll have plenty of time to go and grab all sorts of goodies. This is a charity event and proceeds go to Wigs For Kids. This fabulous organization helps benefit children who have lost their hair due to various medical conditions, as well as cancer treatments.

In this post, I want to share some of the awesome Hair Fair 2012 gifts you can find at the event. Later, I’ll be doing posts featuring some of the hair I bought. Freebies are great, and I am very thankful to the designers who worked hard to provide some fabulous gifts… but please also buy some hair, if you can. This charity really deserves some love!

For the sake of both saving time and showing the freebies in fairly true form, I did very little editing on these pics beyond cropping and some smudging of harsh edges. However, before I show you the freebies… here’s a look at the “low lag” freebie outfit provided by DCNY for the event. There are two top options and two pant options. You also get a selection of hairbases from Exile, however I chose to buy this utterly adorable bandana made by Callie Cline of KittyCatS. It was all of $L50, but that money goes to Wigs For Kids and every penny counts. It’s a great way to go low lag and still be stylish, and tons of designers and bloggers (not me, lol) created bandanas you can buy. Mine is the Bengal Sorrel, which is one of several from KittyCatS!

And a close up of the adorable bandana… also, read more about the Bandana Day project here.

Okay, now humor me for a moment while we address lag. They’ve taken some remarkable measures to help reduce lag, the details of which are on the blog. However, any crowded SL event will have lag. You can do your part to help lower the lag by removing scripted objects and wearing a low lag outfit. If you don’t like the official Hair Fair one, create one of your own! I have a default “low lag” look saved in my outfits folder, just for occasions like this one. Furthermore, despite my blogger vanity, I don’t give a rat’s ass about walking around bald or without my AO. I’d rather do my part to help lower lag! My “official” low lag outfit is featured in the other pics. Oh, also… I’m wearing Maitreya flip flops in my pics, but my default low lag look has no shoes or prim feet at all. I’ve seen some people debating on forums or Plurk about this issue, and frankly, it’s just plain silly. If you’re so vain you can’t handle waddling like a newb to help lower lag, skip crowded events. Especially when they are for charity! Okay, off my soapbox now. Which means… FREEBIE TIME!

First up… Hinako had a cute Hair Fair gift in Mocha. I added the Red Mint heart pin mouthie that they had out as a gift. I think this hair would be especially cute on a kid avie. It’s also has a scripted resizer in it, which came in handy because my head is apparently rather huge.

Next… Clawtooth had out a cute style called Cosmic Love in Dusty Black. I like this hair, but I will warn any avs with bigger boobs that it’s likely to go inside you. My boobs are about a 46, with gravity pretty low for mesh, and it still went inside me in most poses. But… it’s free and cute, so really, who can complain?

Milana had out a very cute style, with several color options, as a gift. This shade is called ginger and the hair is called Mel.

At ChiChickie I found a cute freebie, but what stood out especially was the adorable Zen hairpin that came with it. It’s a separate attachment, so you can use it for other hair, too. Also, this hair came with a hud so you get a lot of color choices.

if you’re into dreadlocks, be sure you stop by Discord Designs. They have an awesome mesh hair gift, as you can see below, and you get several color choices and hairbases, too. There’s also more than one style in their freebie bag. This is Jada in Deep Red.

Colors has out a free gift in a ton of, well… colors. I went with the dark brown. This one is really cute, and was one of my favorites.

I had a lot of “wow, I didn’t know that store made hair” while I was walking the sims (which, btw… they did an AMAZING job of laying this event out and it’s SO easy to navigate). Mons was one of those stores! But this freebie, Mare, from there is utterly adorable and comes in multiple colors. I’m wearing the red.

The Most Creative freebie award goes, hands down, to Nashuru, with their Botanical Pigtails gift. This “hair” is so clever, and though I can’t think of a reason I’d ever need it, I also know I will never delete it… because it’s well done, quirky and the second I delete it, I’ll have some reason to want it!

Finally… the Best Hair Fair freebie award goes to Alice Project. Tessa is mesh, and comes in two versions – with and without bangs. It also comes with a mini version of her Nova Hud. You get a great selection of natural colors, and well. It’s just so freakin’ cute. I’m wearing the version with bangs, and I made a dirty joke about this earlier to my friend Nimil, but uhm. Yeah. Anyway. Here’s the pic!

At any rate, if you only make a point to find one freebie at the event, this is definitely the one to find in my opinion!

That is all from me for now. Credits for everything else in the pics can be found down yonder!
